Fear of death

What is the fear of death?  And how to overcome this fear?

There was chaos everywhere and a strange fear could be felt in the air. The bomb blast a few moments ago had wreaked havoc far and wide. Everyone there felt dead for a moment. Every face turned yellow for fear of death. Even people found it difficult to feel the spirit in their bodies because of fear of death.

"Am I alive?"  Everyone there was asking themselves the same question. Every quest and wish of the dying people ended with them at that moment. No one got a chance to cancel their plans for tomorrow. Survivors felt their quests and dreams circulating with blood in their veins. Everyone there felt the bitterness of death. Even those who closed their eyes as they felt the fear of death were watching the severity of death with open eyes. 

Even after witnessing so many people's deaths in an instant, it was very reassuring for the survivors that "they are alive." After feeling life, the fear of death in their heart was greatly reduced. And in their hearts were only feelings of regret for those who died in this blast. 

Fear of death is a natural thing. Every human being is afraid of losing his life. But death is a fact that cannot be denied. Despite being aware of the fear of death, many people are afraid to face this fear. If a person is told that he is going to die in the next minute, he will die before the next minute. Because the fear of death is more dangerous than death.

We need to face this fear, not be afraid of it. Because like life, death is an inescapable fact. Most of our attention is focused on our life which is why we completely forget the time of our death.


How to overcome the fear of death?


To face the fear of death, we have to convince ourselves that our life is a temporary thing. Once we consider life mortal, it is easier for us to face the fear of death. 

Along with this, facing the fear of death also gives us guidance on how to improve our lives. For example, if you are not on the list of those killed in a bomb blast and are standing in the line of survivors, then of course you have a chance to improve your life.

Fear of death often leads to stress and anxiety. And they stop thinking about their death just because they feel stress and anxiety in the name of death. But when such people get the news of the death of a loved one or a friend, they go into trauma. And it becomes very difficult for them to get out of this trauma and believe in the death of their loved ones. If cancer patients face the fear of death, their recovery slows down because their fear causes them to lose their faith in life, and he spends the rest of their life in fear of their death. But if he accepts his death as a fact and struggles for his life, his life will surely increase.

An example of this is the story of a young man like Ali Banat, a millionaire from Australia, who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 28 and was told by doctors to live only seven more months, but he survived for three years. And devoted his life to charity. That young man did not let his fear of death overwhelm his life. And out of fear of losing his life, he set a good example for people to follow.

I think to face the fear of death, we just need to make ourselves realize that death is a reality, and one day we have to face this reality. 

I think we just need to follow the following principles to overcome the fear of death


1- Believe in the death


Remember your death once a day. Try to convince yourself that I came to this world for a short time. And I should have to spend this short period of my life in the best way possible.

If someone tries to frighten you in the name of death, tell them, "There is a day of death for every human being."

That way you won't be afraid to face the fear of death. And you will find a way to improve your life by remembering your death.


2- Get in the habit of giving thanks


Now, what does the habit of giving thanks have to do with the fear of death?  In fact, the habit of giving thanks does not lead us to the many futile and pointless pleasures and desires of life.

And we become satisfied with what we have. And this satisfaction does not make us feel any sense of deprivation or inferiority, that we forget our death and continue to regret only our unfulfilled desires. Many people do not remember their death because they have a desire to reach unknown destinies in their life and they feel that if those desires remain unfulfilled they will die.

Sometimes a person attaches his desires to live to such an extent that the fear of leaving these desires unfulfilled feels like the fear of death. And because of this fear, a man spends his life chasing useless and vain desires, and by the time comes to enjoy the fulfillment of these desires, the time of man's death is near. But the habit of giving thanks does not make you afraid of death or helplessness, even if your unfulfilled desires remain unfulfilled.


3- Find a purpose in life


Nothing created in this world is pointless or useless. Every living and inanimate thing in this world has been created for a specific purpose.

Finding a purpose in life reduces the fear of death in our hearts. Because when we try to find the purpose of our life, we realize that we have a purpose in life and we have to find the purpose of our life before we die. Because life's journey to death is not pointless.


4- Seek the true God


Before facing the fear of death, try to learn about the God who gives life. And try to find out, "Who is our true God?"  

The answer to this question is present in the heart of every human being because when Allah Almighty created man, He put His Noor(light) in the heart of every human being so that he could know his Lord.

But after coming to this world, a man focused on his lesser intellect instead of listening to the voice of his heart. And forgetting his true God, he began to believe in other transcendental and mortal things as God.

There is only one true God in this world and we are sent to follow the commands of this God in this world. And every human being returns to the same true God after death. If we succeed in finding our true God, then the fear of death in our hearts is lessened because we are convinced that we have to meet our God after our death.


5- Be honest with yourself


Be completely honest, and fully face the reality of your death. Until you do, this fear will eat you up. 

Life becomes more precious when we acknowledge the fact that it is mortal. After accepting this bitter reality of life, the importance of our own lives and the lives of others increases in our eyes.

And because of this, we do not think of harming ourselves and others and thus we live our lives with God's trust. 

You know that you will face death at some point, but you will not be able to live your life in peace because of the fear of death. When you are honest with yourself and deal with your fears, you will start to take this phobia lightly.


Wrapping up


We just need to change our lifestyle to face the fear of death. That is when we begin to consider our temporary life as a mortal instead of immortal, then surely the fear of death will be lessened in our hearts to some extent.

It is difficult to get out of the fear of death because we stop thinking about death. That is why we must remember our death in every situation and at all times so that we can avoid anxiety and stress from the fear of death.
